Fuel is one of the few costs that follows a truck everywhere, and every gallon affects a carrier’s margin. Rising diesel prices and unmonitored pump activity can quickly squeeze profitability, especially when loads are priced weeks in advance. Waste often hides in plain sight—from unauthorized purchases and inefficient stops to drivers choosing the nearest station due to tight delivery schedules. Sorting out these issues is further complicated when fuel activity, vehicle location, and mileage records live in separate systems, leaving finance teams to spend hours matching transactions and operations teams with historical data rather than actionable context. The Geotab Fuel Card addresses this by connecting payment activity with vehicle and trip data in MyGeotab. Location and tank-level information help flag transactions that do not match a vehicle’s circumstances, while participating station locations and pricing are accessible through the Geotab Drive app. Geotab will present these solutions at the 2026 ATA Management Conference & Exhibition (MCE), taking place October 17–20 in Charlotte, North Carolina. On Sunday, October 18, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Room W209DEF, Geotab leaders and industry experts will host the session titled “Stop the Leak: Reducing Fuel Waste Across Your Fleet” to discuss the roots of fuel waste and the benefits of connected data.
