Stellantis NV Chief Engineering and Technology Officer Ned Curic plans to continue hiring more engineers as the automaker rolls out dozens of new models as part of its turnaround plan. Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the Paris car show, where Stellantis showcased more than 60 vehicles from eight brands and nine concept cars, Curic stated that multiple hundreds of additional engineers will be hired this year in different locations throughout Europe and the United States. CEO Antonio Filosa has pledged about $67 billion (60 billion euros) through 2030 to launch dozens of models, improve profitability, and bundle spending to reap efficiencies across brands. This hiring plan contrasts with competitors reducing their workforces; Volkswagen AG is seeking to cut about 15% of its staff globally, and Renault SA announced plans to cut up to 20% of its global engineering workforce. Stellantis is co-developing electric Citroën and Opel models with its Chinese partner Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co., including the all-electric Citroën 2CV budget car concept unveiled at the Paris show and a new electric Opel SUV. Curic pledged to preserve European engineering, emphasizing that engineering must stay and happen in Europe in countries such as France, Italy, and Germany.
