A new study from the Aghnami Law Group found that motorcycles have one of the lowest crash rates per 100,000 registered vehicles, with only trains and planes having lower rates.
The study reviewed five years of crash data across seven transportation categories and found that motorcycles had an average annual crash rate of 1,112 per 100,000 registered vehicles. This is lower than passenger cars, buses, large trucks, and light trucks.
However, the study also found that crash rates are increasing for most modes of transportation, including motorcycles, which saw a 6.83% increase in crashes over the five-year period.

The study’s findings suggest that while motorcycles may be safer in terms of crash frequency, they can still be more dangerous in the event of an accident due to the lack of protection for riders.
The study’s data also showed that bus crashes have more than doubled over the five-year period, with a 101.98% increase, while large trucks and light trucks have seen increases of 28.32% and 28.06%, respectively. Passenger cars were the only category to see a decrease in crashes, with a 3.80% reduction.

The study’s findings have implications for road safety and highlight the need for increased awareness and caution among all road users.
