Ruf Automobile is developing its next generation of performance cars, using a development prototype called the B8 Erprober to validate new technologies. The B8 Erprober features a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter flat-eight engine, producing over 1,000 horsepower and over 738 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. This prototype is a lengthened CTR3 test vehicle, designed to test the new technologies that will power future Ruf models. Ruf has come a long way since its first tuned Porsche 50 years ago, achieving legendary status with models like the Ruf CTR Yellowbird. The company has no plans to slow down and will publicly demonstrate the B8 Erprober at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with six runs and a special livery paying tribute to the CRT Yellowbird. Ruf’s future automobiles will continue to be bespoke vehicles, utilizing the 911 for design inspiration and bridging the gap between old and modern. While there’s no word on when a production version of the next-gen vehicle will be available, Ruf’s current most powerful model is the CTR3 Evo at 800 HP, which isn’t available with a manual transmission.
