Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) has reported a strong second-quarter performance, with revenue rising 10.4% to $1.55 billion and profit jumping 30.5% to $350.6 million. The company’s weight per shipment increased by 1.7% to 1,503 pounds, outperforming seasonal expectations. According to CFO Adam Satterfield, the strong truckload environment has lifted LTL weight per shipment, signaling that the freight market recovery is in its early stages. ODFL has raised its 2026 capital spending by $115 million to $380 million, with the additional funds allocated for equipment, real estate, and service center expansion. The company’s operating ratio improved to 70.1, and its LTL revenue per hundredweight increased by 15.2% to $37.84. Satterfield believes that the freight market upcycle has a long lifespan, with the economy just starting to recover and plenty of room for growth. ODFL ranks No. 11 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 2 in the less-than-truckload segment, with over 10,000 tractors, 45,000 trailers, and 21,000 employees.
