The Nissan Pathfinder is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a new Special Edition that revives 1980s-spec burgundy upholstery, drawing inspiration from the original 1987 model. The exterior features red accents, including red Pathfinder lettering on the liftgate, complemented by black 20-inch alloy wheels. Standard equipment for the Special Edition includes a panoramic moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs making it a seven-seater, rear-door sunshades, a Bose sound system, and a tow hitch. The maximum towing capacity is 6000 pounds. This feature set closely mirrors the previous SL Premium package, with the exclusive colors acting as the main differentiator. Under the hood, the entire lineup uses a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V-6 engine, which produces 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque on most trims, while the Rock Creek trim pushes out 295 HP and 270 lb-ft on premium fuel. The Special Edition starts at $48,965 for front-wheel drive and $50,965 for all-wheel drive, sitting $4600 above an equivalent Pathfinder SL and $2500 below the Platinum. Elsewhere in the lineup, pricing remains stable, with the cheapest 2027 models holding steady and the largest increase elsewhere coming to just $300. The base SV FWD and SV AWD are priced at $41,565 and $43,565, matching the 2026 model year costs.
