New spy photos from Autohome have revealed the front end of BYD Yangwang’s upcoming flagship sedan, carrying the internal codename HU, ahead of its planned debut in the United Arab Emirates. Yangwang Sales Division General Manager Hu Xiaoqing confirmed the UAE appearance on October 21, though an exact date and venue remain unannounced. The spy shots show a tall, rectangular grille flanked by vertically arranged split headlamps, giving it an upright front fascia that recalls the bronze vessel motif of the U8 and U8L SUVs, differing from the low-slung nose of the Yangwang U7. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit sits above the windshield, though its presence does not confirm final driver-assistance capabilities. The side profile highlights a long body measuring approximately 5,500 mm, featuring a short front overhang, an extended rear section, and rear-hinged coach doors matching official teaser photos released on September 23. While models like the U8, U9, and U7 utilize BYD’s e4 quad-motor architecture and DiSus active suspension systems, BYD has not confirmed the HU’s motor configuration, output, suspension specs, or curb weight. The project remains an internal codename with no official retail name yet. Chinese media reports estimate the expected price will exceed 2,000,000 yuan (approximately 299,600 USD), placing it above competitors like the 5,480 mm JAC-Huawei Maextro S800, which is priced between 728,000 yuan and 1,018,000 yuan (approximately 109,000–152,200 USD). Media reports have also linked solid-state batteries to the HU, but Yangwang has not disclosed its battery chemistry or production setup. BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li previously stated the company plans to put a vehicle using solid-state technology on the road in 2027 without identifying the model, while FinDreams Battery CTO Sun Huajun outlined a roadmap targeting small-batch vehicle trials around 2027 and large-scale commercial production around 2030. The HU will expand the Yangwang sedan lineup alongside potential comparisons including the Maextro S800, Nio ET9, and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
