The BMW Group is taking steps to tackle the increasingly competitive environment, with a focus on efficiency and speed. Despite a significant downturn in the Chinese market and challenging operating conditions worldwide, the company is maintaining a clear course. In the second quarter, the BMW Group reported a pre-tax earnings (EBT) of €1,697 million, a decrease of 35.1% compared to the same period last year, with an EBT margin of 5.4%.

The company has reached an agreement with the Works Council on a workforce restructuring program, including voluntary severance packages, to position itself for future challenges. The BMW Group delivered a total of 1,156,727 vehicles worldwide in the first six months of the year, with growth in Europe and the US, but a significant decrease in deliveries in China. The company reported a significant increase in deliveries of fully-electric vehicles, with nearly one in five vehicles delivered being fully electric.

The Neue Klasse is gaining traction, with the BMW iX3 being fully on track to reach 100,000 orders since its sales launch. The company is working to reshape its organization and processes to stay competitive, with a focus on innovation and technology. Research and development expenditure was reduced, as planned, declining moderately year-on-year to €3,714 million.

The BMW Group is preparing for growing challenges, with a focus on being lean and agile, and is working to deliver a strong product portfolio to market, with the Neue Klasse and its technologies at the forefront.
