Mini Unveils Rugged Countryman, Debuting This October

Mini is finally developing its own rugged version of the Countryman, set to debut in October 2026. The off-road-focused compact SUV features higher clearance and all-terrain tires, distinguishing it from the standard model. Currently undergoing testing and validation in the US, the rugged Countryman will be unveiled in October. The prototype has been spotted with a camouflaged design, sitting higher than the standard Countryman and riding on black alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. Notable exterior features include a large roof-top tent, conveying the adventurous character of the build. While Mini has not disclosed the powertrain options, it is expected to be paired with AWD-capable variants, such as the Countryman S, JCW, and electric SE. After its public reveal, the model will participate in the 2026 Rebelle Rally, a grueling all-women navigation event spanning over 2,500 km across remote wilderness. According to Jean-Philippe Parain, Head of Mini, the project embodies the Mini spirit, combining capability with character to create unforgettable adventures.
