Mercedes-Benz Vans has once more redefined the commercial van segment, rolling out innovations tailored to the diverse needs of business customers. The headline act at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf 2026 is the debut of the new Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo and Marco Polo HORIZON, both making their world premiere at the show. These models are now being built entirely in-house by Mercedes-Benz, a move designed to boost production flexibility and meet soaring customer demand. The revamped Marco Polo range introduces smarter features aimed at enhancing comfort and livability, including improvements to spatial feel, lighting and darkening systems, acoustics, and connectivity. Further details are available in the accompanying Marco Polo magazine.
Beyond the Marco Polo duo, Mercedes-Benz is also showcasing a groundbreaking innovation for the Sprinter platform: the Torque-on-Demand all-wheel-drive system, now available for fully integrated motorhomes for the first time. This system automatically distributes drive power between the front and rear axles in milliseconds, eliminating the need for driver intervention. It enhances comfort and safety, particularly in variable grip conditions such as snow or rough terrain. The first prototype of a fully integrated Sprinter 4×4 motorhome featuring this system is on display at the KABE booth in Hall 6. The KABE Imperial Ri830 TRAQ 4×4 prototype boasts premium insulation, a two-bed sleeping area, a kitchen/dining zone, a bathroom, and a large garage suitable for winter camping gear like skis. An optional off-road package is planned for future availability.
The Caravan Salon Düsseldorf 2026 also features a host of other Sprinter-based motorhome innovations from partners including Rhön Camp (Core), LAIKA (Kreos H 5109), Offtrack (Verge), AllRoad (TAKLAMAKAN 4×4 XL), Captain Camper (HISPANIOLA), and ATLANTIS (Carbon 4×4).
Mercedes-Benz is marking its 140th anniversary of innovation in 2026, a milestone that underscores the brand’s legacy of technological leadership since Carl Benz patented the first gasoline-powered automobile in 1886. The Caravan Salon Düsseldorf serves as a platform to celebrate this history, with visitors able to experience the Benz Patent-Motorwagen firsthand. The anniversary year coincides with one of the largest product offensives in the company’s history, reinforcing Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to pioneering mobility solutions.
