Peugeot is eyeing a production reality for its dramatic e-T16 and RCZ Vision concepts, with CEO Alain Favey revealing that the e-T16 hyper-hatch could be ready as soon as next year. Unveiled at the Paris motor show, the e-T16 previews the next generation of the e-208 while drawing inspiration from the iconic 1980s 205 T16 homologation special with its wide-arched bodywork and dual-motor 805bhp setup. Speaking to Autocar, Favey confirmed the concept is technically viable and underpinned by Stellantis’s new STLA One platform. Favey stated that the car utilizes elements from the new e-208 and can be built exactly as shown next year. He noted that the involvement of Peugeot Sport proves the technical specifications are real and achievable rather than just headline bait. A production version would likely arrive as a low-volume, high-cost halo product comparable to the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, which carries mooted figures between £140,000 and £220,000, though pricing was not officially discussed by Favey. Alongside the new RCZ coupé, it would spearhead Peugeot’s push upmarket with sporty, design-led vehicles to help grow annual sales from 1.1 million to 1.5 million cars. While the e-T16 is ready, the RCZ coupé faces delays because its low-set proportions rely on thin, solid-state batteries that are not yet market-ready, potentially taking five or six years. Furthermore, Favey ruled out a new entry-level model like the old 108 city car, focusing instead on higher value and design to sidestep a pricing war with value-driven Chinese competitors.
