The 2028 Honda CR-V is set to arrive in spring 2027, with a full redesign that may include a new look, cabin, and possibly a hybrid-only powertrain. The biggest question is whether Honda will follow in the footsteps of the Toyota RAV4 and ditch the internal-combustion engine option. The current hybrid model combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor. Exterior styling changes may include new front- and rear-end designs, wheels, lights, and paint colors, while the interior could feature a new dashboard design, controls, materials, and trim. The next CR-V is expected to go on sale next spring, with a possible debut at the 2026 Los Angeles Auto Show or the 2027 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Honda’s decision to go hybrid-only would be a significant step forward in its electrification strategy, allowing the company to match Toyota and appeal to environmentally conscious consumers. However, offering a gas engine option could still appeal to those hesitant about the cost of hybrids. The next CR-V’s launch is crucial for Honda, as the company faces stiff competition in the crowded and competitive segment from rivals like Toyota, Jeep, Ford, and Subaru.
