General Motors is finally pivoting toward hybrid powertrains, investing in its Lansing Delta Township plant to build electrified models after previously focusing entirely on electric vehicles. According to recent reports, the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia will be the first vehicles in GM‘s lineup to receive these electrified setups. The move comes as welcome news to dealers, who have reportedly been pushing the automaker for hybrids consistently. In other industry news, Stellantis shares rose by over 6% in European trading following a third-quarter adjusted pre-tax earnings report of $285 million, driven by cost-cutting efforts and nearly tripling last year’s $100 million figure. Meanwhile, a recall affects 30,000 Ford F-Series pickups spanning the F-150 through F-450 models, mostly from the 2026 model year, due to a faulty left-side tailgate cable that may snap under an overloaded tailgate; repairs may face delays of three months or longer. In Porsche news, CFO Jochen Breckner confirmed during an earnings call that Audi‘s upcoming electric sports car will share a platform with the replacement models for the 718 Boxster and Cayman, with financial compensation from Audi expected in 2027. Breckner also noted that while the Mission S supercar concept received overwhelming feedback, it remains strictly a vision and design model with no near-term production confirmed. Additionally, Dodge announced an $11,000 Mopar package featuring functional and aesthetic upgrades for the two-door 2027 Charger R/T and Scat Pack models, limited to a total production run of 270 coupes. Looking at broader market trends, analytics firm Global Data projects that one in four new cars globally will be a hybrid by 2031, constrained largely by EV sales dominance in international markets.
