Goodyear will shut down its tire manufacturing plant in Izmit, Turkey, for a month-long production suspension starting July 2 and resuming August 3. The move is framed as part of the company’s “annual temporary production suspension” for inventory adjustment, according to a filing with Borsa Istanbul dated June 18. The suspension will not affect employment at the plant. The Izmit facility, operational since 1963, produces 3,000 medium truck and agricultural tires per day. Goodyear also operates a second plant in Adapazari, near Izmit, which manufactures 17,000 consumer tires daily.
