The editor recalls his first trip on this route as a young boy with his mom and later as a photographer for a story in the May/June 2006 issue of Robb Report MotorCycling, where he rode with former editor Jeff Buchanan and Arthur Coldwells, the founder of Robb Report MotorCycling.

The editor has since ridden Cabrillo Highway several times on various motorcycles, including the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, Moto Guzzi Norge, Kawasaki Concours 14, and Ducati SuperSport S, and encourages readers to take advantage of the reopened route before it closes again.
