Team Schubert Motorsport and BMW M Motorsport narrowly missed out on a podium finish at the DTM event in Oschersleben, Germany. Marco Wittmann, driving the #11 Schaeffler BMW M4 GT3 EVO, battled for a top-three finish on Sunday but ultimately settled for fourth place due to a lack of pace.

Kelvin van der Linde, in the #3 Shell BMW M4 GT3 EVO, finished seventh in both races after returning to DTM action following a heavy accident at the Norisring. Wittmann had lined up third on the grid for Sunday’s race but lost a position at the start and was unable to launch a decisive attack despite having fresher tires.

Van der Linde was unfortunate in qualifying due to traffic and started seventh on the grid, a position he maintained throughout the race. On Saturday, Wittmann and van der Linde started from 13th and 15th respectively, with van der Linde producing a strong comeback drive to finish seventh.

Wittmann was forced to retire with a tire failure. The team received special support from Maxime Estève, a French summer signing of Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, who cheered them on from the pit garage.

In the ADAC GT4 Germany, Gabriele Piana and Benjamin Sylvestersson secured a double podium for FK Performance Motorsport, moving into the lead of the drivers’ championship. Team principal Torsten Schubert and head of customer racing at BMW M Motorsport, Björn Lellmann, expressed disappointment with the weekend’s results but praised the team’s performance and pit stops.
