CHP Is Catching Supercars At Monterey Car Week Like They’re Pokémon

Monterey Car Week is known for its rare cars and crowded roads, and this year, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is increasing its presence across the Central Coast. The CHP’s Coastal Division is conducting a special enforcement operation focused on speed and dangerous driving, with support from CHP Air Operations. The operation aims to ensure the safety of both locals and visitors, as the influx of Car Week traffic creates safety challenges. The CHP has already made several high-profile stops, including a Lamborghini Huracan, a Ferrari 360 Modena, a Mercedes-AMG GT, and a Shelby Mustang. The police are warning drivers that they will be watching from both the ground and the air, and that speeding and dangerous driving will not be tolerated. As Coastal Division Commander Chief Mike Alvarez stated, ‘The Central Coast is proud to host automotive fans from around the world, but our top priority will always be the safety of our local community and our guests.’ The CHP’s enforcement efforts will continue throughout Monterey Car Week, covering a substantial stretch of California, including Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
