BMW, Toyota, Bosch, and Repsol Launch Pilot of Vehicles Running on 100% Renewable Gasoline

The BMW Group, Toyota Motor Europe, Bosch, and Repsol have launched a six-month pilot project in Spain to demonstrate the real-world potential of vehicles running exclusively on 100% renewable gasoline. The pilot will deploy a fleet of around 20 Toyota and BMW vehicles powered by Repsol’s Nexa 95 100% renewable gasoline, supported by Bosch’s digital fuel tracking system. The initiative aims to provide real-world evidence that renewable fuels can be deployed at scale using existing vehicles, refueling infrastructure, and digital certification technologies. The pilot will focus on three key objectives: the availability of renewable gasoline in the market, the readiness of digital tracking and certification technologies, and the operational deployment of vehicles running on 100% renewable fuels. Bosch’s ‘Digital Fuel Twin’ system will collect and validate refueling data from multiple sources, ensuring robust and transparent tracking of renewable fuel usage. The pilot uses existing Toyota and BMW vehicles and highlights the immediate scalability of renewable fuels as a drop-in solution for decarbonizing road transport. Repsol’s Nexa 95 renewable gasoline is produced from RED-compliant feedstocks, offering significant greenhouse gas reductions compared to fossil fuels, while remaining fully compatible with today’s gasoline engines and infrastructure.
