Historic family owners of Anheuser-Busch InBev, including the Van Damme, de Mevius, and de Spoelberch families, have sold a $843 million stake in the world’s largest brewer. The sale, which was arranged by JPMorgan, saw 10 million AB InBev shares sold at 73.10 euros apiece, a 2.8% discount to the July 31 close. This move comes after AB InBev’s shares surged 37% in 2026, driven by the company’s focus on ‘megabrands’ like Corona, Stella Artois, and Michelob Ultra. Despite weakening beer consumption due to cost-of-living pressures and health concerns, AB InBev is pushing investment into these major brands to drive growth. The company has reported an unexpected rise in beer demand, with its sponsorship of the soccer World Cup boosting demand for Michelob Ultra in the US and other beers in Mexico.
