Trelleborg Medical Solutions has broken ground on an expansion and remodelling project at its innovation centre in Delano, Minnesota. The project aims to increase capacity and shorten development cycles for medical device customers. The expansion includes 4,180 sq. m. of new space, a visitor centre, and the remodelling of the tool shop to 10,500 square feet. The project will also add high-end machining and injection moulding capabilities, as well as expanded space for automation and vision laboratory. The expansion is scheduled for completion in spring 2027. This investment will enable Trelleborg to deliver high-quality components fast and provide an exceptional experience to customers from early stage prototyping to high-volume commercialisation. The new visitor centre will serve as a collaborative meeting area where customers can brainstorm with Trelleborg experts. The increased automation lab will provide scalability to support future projects and dedicated space for developing vision inspection and automation systems. Kevin Ehlert, president of the medical device solutions Americas business unit, stated that speed to market and high-quality, reliable supply are critical factors in customer partnerships. Jeff Westom, director of the innovation centre, added that the extra infrastructure will enhance in-house capabilities and provide the highest quality components fast without relying on outside shops. The expansion is a significant investment in Trelleborg’s US centre, demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting its customers in the medical device industry.
