Nexen Tire has completed a semester-long tire research and development programme with the College of Engineering at Seoul National University. The programme, which was incorporated into the university’s regular curriculum, focused on AI- and virtual simulation-based tire development. It included lectures, a practical visit to Nexen’s central research facility, and team project presentations. The company also demonstrated its ‘high dynamic driving simulator’, which is the first of its kind introduced by a domestic tire manufacturer. Nexen is working on other academic projects, including a study to improve winter tire design precision and the development of an ‘AI-based NVH prediction tool’. The company plans to continue expanding joint research and education programmes with universities in South Korea and overseas. According to a Nexen official, ‘AI and virtual technology have emerged as key elements of future mobility, and we are strengthening cooperation with universities to secure technology proactively and foster outstanding talent.’,
