A pair of accused would-be burglars in an Atlanta parking garage was thwarted by a security force of robot dogs. The two robotic canines, deployed by security company Undaunted, helped police corner and arrest the men allegedly entering cars and stealing items inside them. The robot dogs tracked the suspects, one of whom hid in the area of a trash compactor, and kept him at bay until police arrived to take him into custody.
Undaunted’s robots are unarmed and are essentially mobile cameras and communication systems that can respond quickly and go places that permanently mounted cameras can’t see. The company’s CEO, Bryan Dinner, stated that they will never put offensive weapons on their robots. The use of robot dogs in security may be particularly appealing in rough areas, as it doesn’t put a human life in harm’s way.
The incident highlights the potential of using robot dogs in security, which may be more effective than human security guards in deterring crime. The security company’s video shows a human remote operator talking with police through a two-way audio system, describing the suspects and their last known locations. The robot dogs’ capabilities are limited, but they can provide valuable evidence to police, which is recorded during the incident.

The use of robot dogs in security may be a game-changer in the fight against crime, as it can provide a unique and effective way to deter and apprehend suspects.
