A Ram t-shirt design has sparked controversy as it features a pickup truck that is actually a Toyota Tacoma with a Ram grill. The shirt, which was available in the brand’s online merch store, has since been taken down after a Motor1 tweet called it out. The design is an example of AI hallucinations gone wrong, as the truck pictured is not a Ram, but a Toyota Tacoma.

The Tacoma has distinct styling details, such as round projector low beams and round fog lights, a hexagonal grill, and a more pronounced Hofmeister kink in the rear side windows. In contrast, the Ram 1500 has rectangular headlights and fog lights, and a grill design that integrates with the headlights and turn signals. While some have speculated that the design could be a hint at a future Ram midsize pickup, it is more likely an example of AI slop.

Stellantis has a history of partnerships with other companies, such as Toyota and Mazda, but it is unlikely that Toyota would allow Ram to license the previous-generation Tacoma and sell it as a Ram. The incident highlights the importance of using human artists and designers, rather than relying on AI hallucinations. The 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee 392 is an example of a flashy truck that would be more suitable for a Ram t-shirt design.
