Orange EV, a specialist in battery-electric terminal trucks, has announced a record-breaking order slate that includes its largest single deal to date: 600 electric yard trucks. The company revealed the milestone on June 2, 2026, marking a clear inflection point in the adoption of electric terminal tractors across logistics yards. According to Kurt Neutgens, co-founder, president and CTO of Orange EV, the industry has moved past the early-adopter phase of yard electrification. Customers are now scaling up from pilot programs to full deployments, driven by proven total cost of ownership advantages—including uptime guarantees, fuel savings, reliability, and extended warranties. Neutgens highlighted that a decade of operation with Orange EV’s electric terminal trucks can save fleets up to half a million dollars in total cost of ownership compared to diesel units, excluding incentives.

Deployment for the 600-truck order has already begun, with full rollout scheduled for 2026. Orange EV also noted that over 1,900 of its electric terminal trucks are already in service, including a first deployment with DHL in 2015. The company said the market for electric “yard dogs” has expanded as operators tested small numbers of units before scaling up after successful trials. Orange EV is now on track to capture more than 25% of new terminal truck orders and deliveries by the end of 2026. Leasing activity has surged 272% over the past 12 months, as fleets seek to accelerate adoption without large upfront capital outlays.

The company’s trucks have accumulated 33.8 million operational miles, with many units surpassing 30,000 hours of use on their original battery packs. To meet rising demand, Orange EV’s Kansas City, Kan., facility can produce 2,400 trucks annually on a single shift, with additional capacity available by adding shifts. The company provides factory-backed direct service through a nationwide network of Orange EV-trained technicians and expanded service hours in 2026 to include multi-shift and weekend support. Addressing electrical infrastructure constraints at some sites, Orange EV offers the Orange Juicer, a battery-integrated DC fast charger that can reduce permitting and grid-upgrade requirements. The Orange Juicer trickle charges its internal battery reservoir from the grid and can deliver up to 200 kW of fast charging on demand.

The company also highlighted the availability of its e-CCS1 charging system across its lineup to ensure compatibility with CCS1 charging standards.
