Hyundai is gearing up to launch an all-new generation of its i20 hatchback, with the high-performance i20 N variant poised for significant changes.
Spy shots reveal a heavily disguised prototype sporting a squared-off roofline, reminiscent of the Santa Fe and the smaller Casper/Inster.

The A-pillars and side windows converge to a sharp edge, with an angled roofline tapering towards the rear. Flared front wheel arches are also visible, though the front fascia remains obscured by cladding.
However, a previous prototype indicated a large, blacked-out grille, an LED light bar, distinctive daytime running lights, and new headlights.

The rear design is also largely hidden, but the taillights appear to be significantly different from the current model.
The interior remains a mystery, with speculation that it could adopt a more traditional layout or follow Hyundai’s latest cabin design featuring the Pleos Connect infotainment display and a Tesla-inspired central screen.

Powertrain options for the new i20 will include several combustion engines and, for the first time, all-electric variants.
The electric model is expected to utilize a 400-volt system with relatively slow charging speeds to maintain affordability, and it’s unlikely to share the E-GMP platform used in the Ioniq models due to positioning.
The i20 N is expected to retain its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine but will gain a hybrid boost from a small electric motor and battery pack, aimed at increasing power and reducing emissions.

This hybrid integration, however, is likely to lead to the discontinuation of the manual transmission option.
