Arlanxeo and Covestro Collaborate to Reduce Chloroprene Rubber Footprint

Arlanxeo and Covestro have partnered to decrease the carbon footprint of chloroprene rubber production by utilizing ISCC+ certified chlorine. As part of this collaboration, Covestro supplies chlorine produced using renewable electricity for Arlanxeo’s Baypren-branded chloroprene rubber manufacturing. Since January, all of Arlanxeo’s chloroprene rubber production has been based on ISCC+ certified chlorine, resulting in a 20% average reduction in global warming potential compared to 2025 levels. This switch strengthens Arlanxeo’s position as a supplier of lower-carbon elastomer solutions for various applications, including automotive and construction. The company also offers Baypren Eco grades, which combine ISCC+ certified chlorine and butadiene, enabling further environmental impact reductions.
