Arctic Cat has announced the acquisition of ARGO, the maker of the amphibious ARGO XTV, an eight‑wheel off‑road vehicle that can traverse both land and water. The company’s president and CEO, Brad Darling, said the move “complements Arctic Cat’s strong lineup of snowmobiles, ATVs and side‑by‑sides, while expanding the solutions we can offer to dealers and customers who rely on capable vehicles for work, recreation and adventure.” The ARGO XTV will continue to be manufactured in Canada, but Arctic Cat plans to add production capacity at its Thief River Falls, Minnesota, plant to serve the U.S. market. The Canadian facility will also serve as the primary hub for international markets and for the company’s unmanned military contracts for the XTVs. Service parts for the ARGO line will be handled in the United States from Arctic Cat’s distribution center in Bucyrus, Ohio. The acquisition signals a strategic expansion for Arctic Cat into niche industries that require versatile, amphibious off‑road solutions. The ARGO XTV’s distinctive eight‑wheel design, bathtub‑style cockpit and brush bar make it a popular choice for hunting, back‑country exploration and other rugged applications.
