Alpinestars Stella Grace Jacket Review: Oscar Spiral, Urban Armor

The Alpinestars Stella Grace is an urban-focused, ultra-stylish mid-season jacket priced at $285. It pairs well with a wide range of motorcycles and was tested by the reviewer in Spain on Triumph’s modern classics, the Thruxton 400 café racer and the Tracker 400. The jacket features four chunky bubblegum-pink pocket zippers flagging the main zipper, alongside an Oscar spiral patch on the left chest. This logo originates from Alpinestars’ 1972 and 1973 design wins for motocross boots, which received an Italian Oscar from the Fashion Academy in Turin. Neo-retro colors repeat in the Alpinestars wordmark running as a patch down both sleeves.

Constructed from a cotton and polyester twill outer shell with a dash of elastane, the Stella Grace offers easy movement and a crisp, trim fit. It features discreet inch-wide mobility panels on each shoulder and a trim length landing about three inches below the belly button, grazing low-rise riding jeans. The boxy-trim cut balances freedom of movement with a smooth polyester lining.

Pockets include four exterior zippered pockets with wide-gauge YKK zippers—consisting of two diagonal hand pockets and two roomy chest pockets that can accommodate an iPhone 16. Interior storage includes two roomy interior waist pockets: a 5-by-6-inch stretch mesh pocket on the right and a 4.5-by-6-inch waterproof zippered pocket on the left. Two additional interior pockets feature hook-and-loop closures designed for optional chest armor.

Additional design details include a stylized Mandarin collar with a reverse-snap tab feature, a tiny pink embroidered A-stars logo at the nape, and elasticized loop tabs for snapping over a belt. The jacket lacks ventilation panels and is intended for three-season use covering autumn, spring, and shoulder months, though tested in sub-60-degree weather in Spain and 90-degree summer rides with a mesh workout shirt.

For safety, the Stella Grace carries a Class A Euro rating for armored motorcycle jackets. It comes standard with Alpinestars Nucleon Flex Plus CE Level 1 soft, flexible shoulder and elbow armor. Upgrades for impact protection include an Alpinestars Nucleon Plasma back protector insert priced at $80 and Nucleon Plasma divided chest protectors priced at $50 per pair. Alternatively, the jacket can be worn with select Alpinestars Tech-Air airbags, such as the Stella Tech-Air 3 V2 vest airbag system at $690 or the Tech-Air 5 Plasma at $870. The jacket is available in a pink-zippered version and a black option with beige accents and the Oscar patch moved to the sleeve.
