An 85-year-old Florida man, William Bosworth, was charged with street racing and excessive speeding after being clocked at 110 mph in his Nissan 350Z convertible. The incident occurred on State Road 48, a 45-mph zone, where Bosworth’s vehicle was seen traveling alongside a Chevrolet Corvette, which allegedly reached 125 mph. Bosworth denied racing, claiming he was simply out for a drive in his favorite car, which he has owned since it was brand new. The Corvette driver, 57-year-old Phillip Signorino, was also arrested and denied racing, arguing that his Corvette wasn’t capable of reaching the claimed speeds. The incident highlights the importance of safe driving and the need for drivers to follow speed limits, especially on public roads. While the allegations are serious, it’s also notable that Bosworth’s passion for driving at his age is admirable, and it’s hoped that he and others can find safe and legal outlets for their enthusiasm.
