Lotus is expanding its Eletre SUV lineup in Europe with the introduction of a plug-in hybrid variant, dubbed the Eletre X.

This new model aims to address the popularity concerns and high price point of the all-electric Eletre.

The Eletre X combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with two electric motors and a 70 kWh battery pack, all built on a 900-volt architecture. Lotus will offer two versions of the hybrid Eletre X.

The top-tier H1000 model boasts an impressive 939 hp and 690 lb-ft (935 Nm) of torque, outperforming the all-electric Eletre R by 34 hp, though it produces less torque than the EV’s 985 lb-ft (1,335 Nm).

This hybrid powerhouse can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.3 seconds and achieve 50-99 mph (80-160 km/h) in 3.88 seconds. A significant advantage of the Eletre X is its extensive range.

With its 70 kWh battery and a 52-liter fuel tank, Lotus claims a combined driving range exceeding 745 miles (1,200 km). The all-electric range is also substantial at 217 miles (350 km).

Charging is rapid, with the 70 kWh battery capable of going from 20% to 80% in just 9 minutes when connected to a 350 kW DC charger.

The entry-level Eletre X H550 variant will produce 542 hp but maintains the same 690 lb-ft (935 Nm) of torque.

It can reach 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h), while the H1000 can reach 143 mph (230 km/h). Both hybrid versions share the same 70-kWh battery, 900-volt system, and driving range.

Key features carried over from the electric Eletre include a 48-volt active anti-roll control system, dual-chamber air suspension, dual-valve adaptive dampers, front double-wishbone suspension, and Brembo brakes. Pricing in Germany positions the Eletre X competitively. The base all-electric Eletre starts at €95,990 ($111,600). The new Eletre X H550 begins at €96,990, making it slightly more expensive than the base EV.

However, the flagship Eletre X H1000 is priced at €119,990 ($112,800), significantly undercutting the top-tier electric Eletre, which costs over €150,000 ($174,400). This makes the H1000 variant appear to be a compelling value proposition.
