GWM’s battery supplier Svolt has officially launched mass production of its 100 kWh semi-solid batteries, which are also referred to as liquid-solid in China. Built on a 900V high-voltage system, the new pack supports 6C charging and can add 500 km of range in just 12 minutes. The first Dragon Armor hybrid semi-solid battery rolled off the production line in Changzhou on October 26. Svolt was originally formed by GWM as an EV battery subsidiary in 2012 and became independent in 2018, though it remains a core supplier and strategic partner to GWM.
Svolt representatives stated that semi-solid packs utilizing ternary chemistries represent a long-term technological path. While official vehicle applications have not been fully confirmed, CarNewsChina expects the Wey V8X BEV to be among the first models to adopt the pack. Svolt chairman and CEO Yang Hongxin noted that additional details will be revealed soon, highlighting that the battery uses cell-level separator transfer-printing technology to enhance safety during fast charging. Featuring liquid cooling technology, the battery boasts a theoretical lifetime of over 1 million kilometers with 3,000 charging cycles.
It also incorporates six layers of protection, delivering impact resistance three times higher than the Chinese governmental standard. Svolt initially announced plans for mass-producing these semi-solid batteries in May 2026, with an initial target rollout in September. Company officials noted that pure solid-state batteries are still a long way from mass production. According to China EV DataTracker, Svolt’s battery installations reached 11.27 GWh from January to September 2026, consisting of 4.23 GWh LFP and 6.99 GWh ternary NMC, capturing a 2% market share in China.

Svolt aims to fully transition its ternary battery cells to hybrid solid-liquid technology by the end of 2027 and plans to introduce its third-generation hybrid solid-liquid tech in 2028.
