Hyundai is targeting a combined annual sales volume of 2.5 lakh units for its Creta and the newly launched Bayon, aiming to strengthen its position in India’s mid‑size SUV segment. The Bayon, which debuted in 2024, brings a suite of AI‑powered connectivity and advanced driver assistance features that set it apart from rivals such as Maruti Suzuki.
Technology is the key differentiator. The Bayon is the first Hyundai in India to include a built‑in generative AI voice assistant powered by Perplexity and SoundHound AI. The system supports natural English conversations and can answer queries about travel, weather, restaurants, news and sports. The vehicle’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) combines two 12.3‑inch screens in a curved panoramic layout, offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, more than 70 Bluelink connected features, and supports over‑the‑air updates across up to 19 controllers.

Safety and comfort are also emphasized. The Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS package includes 23 assistance features, such as Highway Driving Assist and navigation‑linked cruise control. Depending on the variant, a surround‑view monitor and blind‑spot view monitor are available. Standard equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill‑start assist and tyre‑pressure monitoring. Higher trim levels add ventilated front seats, an eight‑way powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof and Bose audio.

Under the hood, the Bayon is powered by a 1.5‑litre four‑cylinder petrol engine that delivers 115 PS and 143.8 Nm of torque. Transmission options are a six‑speed manual and an iVT automatic. The vehicle measures 4,245 mm in length with a 2,600 mm wheelbase, offers a 60:40 split rear seat and 505 litres of boot space. A CNG version is slated for launch in January 2027.

In Q3 2026, the Creta remained the best‑selling individual model in the 4.2–4.5‑metre SUV group, but Maruti Suzuki led the combined segment with its Victoris, Grand Vitara and eVitara lineup, holding a 27.26% share versus Hyundai’s 21.34%. Hyundai’s 2.5‑lakh target translates to roughly 20,833 units per month, a clear volume goal for the Creta and Bayon pair. The company’s strategy is to leverage Creta’s established customer base while using Bayon’s technology‑led proposition to attract new buyers and close the gap with Maruti’s combined sales lead.
