This $880 Kit Turns Suzuki’s Boxy Kei Car Into A Retro Off-Roader

Japanese tuner Damd has launched a retro-inspired styling kit for Suzuki’s Spacia Gear kei van, transforming its boxy silhouette into a pocket-sized off-roader with tasteful upgrades.

The Noct kit starts at $880 (¥140,800) and includes a custom grille, headlight bezels, and bumper trim, all designed to evoke classic off-road aesthetics while staying true to Suzuki’s design language.

The donor Spacia Gear already leans rugged, but Damd’s package pushes the theme further with optional accessories like 15-inch Cantabile alloy wheels (¥242,000 / $1,500 for a four-piece set) and a New Zealand-sourced Accoya wood roof rack (¥64,900 / $400). The wheels can be fitted with all-terrain tires for extra off-road capability.

Under the hood, the Spacia Gear retains its mild-hybrid 660cc three-cylinder powertrain, offering 49 HP (36 kW / 50 PS) in naturally aspirated form or 64 HP (47 kW / 65 PS) with turbocharging. Drive is sent to the front wheels (2WD) or all four (4WD) via a CVT.

The base Spacia Gear in Japan starts at ¥1,952,500 ($12,200), with top-spec models reaching ¥2,217,600 ($13,900).

The Noct kit is a pure styling exercise—Damd leaves the chassis, suspension, and powertrain untouched, focusing solely on retro visual flair and practical add-ons like the roof rack.
