Dodge’s 2027 Charger gets Red Oxide paint—it’s basically burgundy in disguise

Dodge is rolling out Red Oxide, a deep, dark maroon paint for the 2027 Charger that looks more burgundy than red in most lighting. The color, which debuted on the Durango, will be available on every Charger trim starting next month for an extra $695. Dodge describes it as a “new deep, dark red,” but photos and real-world examples suggest it leans toward a dark brownish-red or maroon hue. The automaker first showed Red Oxide on a Charger Scat Pack at the Woodward Dream Cruise, where it sat alongside the new 600-horsepower Charger Super Bee, a Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept, and other custom-paint and graphics-package vehicles. Dodge also displayed a Toxic Orange Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak and the Cha Ching Charger Scat Pack. Red Oxide isn’t new to Dodge’s lineup—it’s already on the Durango—but this marks its first appearance on the Charger. The paint’s appearance shifts depending on the light, so Dodge recommends seeing it in person rather than relying on a configurator. Crucially, Red Oxide will be available on both gasoline and electric Charger models, including the 420-horsepower R/T, the 550-horsepower Scat Pack, the 600-horsepower Super Bee Launch Edition, and the 670-horsepower Daytona Scat Pack. All current Charger models come standard with all-wheel drive and are offered as either a two-door coupe or four-door sedan. Dodge frames the color as an “attitude statement,” but the real play here is factory personalization. With Red Oxide joining Purple Haze, Bludicrous, Green Machine, Redeye, Sub-Zero, White Knuckle, and Diamond Black, buyers have plenty of ways to make their Charger stand out. At $695, it’s a far cheaper way to add flair than most appearance packages.
