General Motors has officially lifted the curtain on the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500, the full-size pickup’s first major redesign since 2018 and the corporate twin to the newly revealed 2027 Chevrolet Silverado. While the Silverado’s reveal last week left many questions unanswered, the Sierra’s debut offers even fewer answers—at least for now. GMC confirms the Sierra is a ground-up redesign but declines to disclose critical details such as overall dimensions, curb weight, or even pricing. The automaker is instead prioritizing powertrain choices and interior upgrades in its initial announcement. Under the hood, the 2027 Sierra 1500 offers the same engine lineup as the Silverado: a 5.7-liter V8, a 6.6-liter V8, a turbocharged inline-4, and a diesel inline-4. All power is routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

GMC emphasizes that detailed technical specifications—including horsepower, torque, fuel economy, and acceleration figures—will arrive later. Exterior design is barely addressed beyond a pair of sentences describing “machine precision forms,” revised headlamp and taillamp designs with animated welcome/farewell sequences, a more vertical grille, available quad exhaust outlets, and GMC’s signature WOM lighting. No rear-end photos or full-body images are provided in the announcement materials. The focus shifts quickly to the cabin, where GMC claims class-leading front headroom and legroom in crew-cab configurations. A new modular center console offers multiple layouts and a fold-forward armrest that doubles as a large work surface while keeping USB ports accessible. The lineup will eventually expand to include Pro, Elevation, AT4, and Denali trims, but GMC is only detailing the top two versions for now: the off-road-focused AT4X and the ultra-luxury Denali Ultimate.

The AT4X adds a 2.0-inch lift, Multimatic Jounce Control dampers for high-speed off-road performance, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, electronically locking front and rear differentials, and an exclusive Timber Mahogany interior trim with a panoramic sunroof and stainless-steel speaker covers. An AEV off-road package remains an optional upgrade. The Denali Ultimate, positioned as the halo trim, makes the 6.6-liter V8 standard and touts what GMC calls “the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in its class.” Buyers also receive three years of Level 2 hands-free Super Cruise advanced driver-assistance tech. The cabin, however, steals the show: real forged-wood accents, premium leather, a 16-speaker Bose Premium Series audio system, and a total of more than 60 inches of screen real estate. That includes a 12.2-inch driver display, a 15.0-inch head-up display, a 16.3-inch landscape infotainment touchscreen, an 11.5-inch front passenger display that can partially retract, and an 8.5-inch rearview camera display that replaces the traditional mirror. GMC even thoughtfully tucked a hidden storage compartment behind the center screen—because where else would you stash your… ahem, cargo?

For enthusiasts still waiting on specifics like curb weight, towing capacity, payload ratings, or pricing, GMC promises additional technical details “at a later date.”
