Swedish polymer specialist Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has inaugurated its new aerospace seals production facility in Casablanca, Morocco, marking a strategic expansion into the country’s burgeoning aerospace sector. Group president and CEO Peter Nilsson confirmed the plant’s opening in a 10 June social media video, emphasizing its role in strengthening Trelleborg’s global manufacturing footprint and reinforcing its commitment to aerospace. The facility will focus on producing high-precision airframe seals for both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and the aftermarket, addressing robust demand in both segments. Gordon Ruper, president of global aerospace at Trelleborg, highlighted the technical complexity of the products, noting the need for advanced materials and vertically integrated manufacturing processes. The Casablanca plant also introduces metal machining capabilities for the first time, alongside a state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to material development and global testing standards. Trelleborg first announced plans to build the facility in May 2024, with operations originally slated to begin by the end of 2025. The company identified a market gap, as no existing Moroccan manufacturer specializes in polymer aerospace seals. This new plant complements Trelleborg’s existing automotive boots production site in Kenitra, which has been operational since 2021 and represents the group’s first manufacturing presence in Africa.
