Stellant is rolling out Leapmotor’s B10 compact SUV in Mexico at MX$575,000 (US$33,000) as its North American beachhead, with Stellantis and Mopar handling sales and service. The B10 is a range-extender model—its 1.5-liter engine acts solely as a generator for an 18.8 kWh battery that powers a 215 HP (218 PS / 160 kW) electric motor. Leapmotor claims up to 615 miles (990 km) of combined range between fuel stops. The SUV was adapted for Mexican conditions, including high-altitude roads, desert heat, and tropical humidity, and is sold through more than 40 Stellantis dealerships. Stellantis owns about 20% of Leapmotor and controls the international joint venture that will expand the brand outside China. Larger C10 and C16 SUVs are expected to follow. Canada could be next if tariff agreements hold, but the U.S. remains blocked by 100% tariffs on Chinese-built EVs and restrictions on connected-vehicle software, which recently forced Polestar to exit the American market. Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has stated there’s “no space” for Leapmotor in the U.S. for now.
