South Africa’s Michael Hollick secured his first DP World Tour victory in stunning fashion at the 37th BMW International Open, firing an eagle on the 18th hole to edge out compatriot Hennie du Plessis by one stroke. The 39-year-old rookie, who had trailed du Plessis by a single shot heading into the final round, delivered under pressure at Golfclub München Eichenried, finishing at 18-under par (270 strokes) for the tournament. Du Plessis, also chasing his maiden title, led for much of the day before a bogey at the 17th hole and a par on the 18th left him at 17-under (271), good enough for second place. Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger rounded out the podium in third at 14-under, while Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy finished tied for fourth at 12-under. Munich native Thomas Rosenmüller was the top German in sixth place (13-under), while 23-year-old amateur Finn Kölle claimed the best amateur honors. The tournament drew 58,000 spectators over four days of world-class golf, with Hollick’s eagle marking the 57th of the week. As part of the BMW Group’s EAGLES FOR EDUCATION initiative, €57,000 was donated to the Philipp Lahm Foundation to support children’s physical activity, healthy nutrition, and personal development. Hollick, who called the win “unbelievable” for a rookie at age 39, praised BMW’s event organization and the venue’s hospitality. The BMW International Open will return to Golfclub München Eichenried from May 26–30, 2027.
