Mercedes-AMG Motorsport has hit a historic milestone, securing its 1,000th overall victory since launching its customer racing program in 2010. The landmark triumph came at the Ultimate GT Sprint Cup, where French driver Vincent Iogna and KRT Racing dominated the opening race at Mugello on Friday evening. Iogna, starting from pole position, set the fastest lap and stormed to a commanding 48.6-second victory in the 35-minute sprint. The win marked his first overall success in a Mercedes-AMG customer racing car. He backed it up with a second-place finish in Saturday’s follow-up race. “1,000 victories underscore the international strength and sustainable growth of our customer racing commitment,” said Stefan Wendl, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. The program’s success is built on a global network of over 100 teams and 400 drivers competing across 135 race circuits in 34 countries. Mercedes-AMG’s customer racing journey began in October 2010 with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, which claimed its debut win at the VLN endurance championship on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with drivers Christopher Haase and Thomas Jäger. That car laid the foundation for the modern customer racing era. The 100th overall victory followed in 2013 when HTP Motorsport—now part of Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing—won the 24 Hours of Spa with Maximilian Buhk, Maximilian Götz, and Bernd Schneider. The program expanded further with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in 2016, the GT3 EVO in 2019, the GT4 in 2017, and the GT2 in 2022, opening new markets for amateur drivers and boosting the brand’s presence in GT racing. The 500th overall win arrived in May 2021, achieved by ABBA Racing with Richard and Sam Neary in the GT Cup Championship. 2024 was the program’s most successful year to date, with 120 overall victories. The 1,000th win on July 10, 2026, caps a remarkable run that includes multiple triumphs at iconic events like the 24 Hours of Spa (2013, 2022), the Nürburgring 24 Hours (2013, 2016, 2026), the Bathurst 12 Hour (2013, 2022, 2023, 2026), and five victories at the FIA GT World Cup in Macau. The tally breaks down across four models: 612 wins for the Mercedes-AMG GT3, 195 for the Mercedes-AMG GT4, 184 for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, and 9 for the Mercedes-AMG GT2. Behind the success are nearly 500 drivers who have delivered overall victories, including Maro Engel, who has 37 wins and claimed his latest at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring in May 2026. The all-time leaderboard is topped by Richard Neary with 43 victories, followed by Kenneth Heyer with 38 and Engel with 37.
