Hyundai is preparing to launch a new mass-market electric SUV in India, which could be called the Ioniq P.
The vehicle is expected to be launched in 2027 at the Bharat Auto Expo and will be positioned as a rival to the Tata Punch EV.

The Ioniq P will be based on the E-GMP (K) platform and will have two battery pack options, with a standard range and a long range version.
The vehicle will be manufactured at Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur facility in Tamil Nadu and will have premium features such as the Pleos Connect infotainment system and Level 2 ADAS.

Hyundai is aiming to increase its share in the electric segment with this new launch, which will help improve the percentage contribution of EVs to overall sales.
The Indian market has responded well to electrification, with EVs and hybrids now contributing close to 20% of overall passenger vehicle sales in the country.
