A Florida couple has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car while their young child was asleep in the back seat, according to authorities. Jeyson Javier and Daniela Alfonso Dominguez were taken into custody following a string of car thefts in Broward County, as detailed in an arrest report obtained by NBC Miami. Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Burglary Apprehension Team were already tracking Javier, who was driving a Honda Civic. They observed him pull over, exit the vehicle with a skateboard, and enter an apartment complex parking lot in Hollywood, Florida. There, Javier allegedly broke into a 2025 Honda CR-V, reprogrammed it, and drove away. Dominguez, who was in the Civic, followed Javier to another apartment complex in Miami Gardens.
Investigators believe Javier then removed a GPS device from the stolen CR-V before abandoning it and returning to the Civic. The arrest report described this as a tactic to use the apartment complex as a “cool down location” for the stolen vehicle. After Javier exited the stolen CR-V, he returned to the Civic, and the couple was pulled over and arrested shortly after. According to the report, Dominguez was fully aware of Javier’s actions and actively assisted in the crime. She helped transport both of them to the crime scene, followed the stolen CR-V while Javier drove it, transported the vehicle to two separate locations, and picked him up after he stashed it. While Dominguez did not physically steal the CR-V, she facilitated the entire operation from start to finish.

Inside the Civic, deputies found aftermarket Honda key fobs, a tablet used to program them, and various tools commonly used to break into vehicles. Most alarmingly, they also discovered the couple’s young daughter asleep in the back seat. Authorities noted that the child was not harmed but was put in danger as her parents allegedly scouted and stole vehicles while she was in the car. The couple now faces multiple charges, including grand theft auto, possessing burglary tools with intent to use, and child neglect without great bodily harm. Javier also had additional outstanding warrants for grand theft auto, driving with a suspended license, loitering and prowling, and resisting/obstructing law enforcement. The child was not charged in connection with the incident.
