Dreame, the Chinese consumer electronics giant famed for its robot vacuums, is making a bold play for Australia’s automotive market with a lineup of family SUVs and a potential pickup truck. Despite unveiling several eye-catching concept cars—including an electric supercar with rockets—Dreame has no production vehicles to its name yet.

Now, it’s setting its sights on cracking Australia’s top 10 best-selling car brands within five years. The company has already appointed James Moore to lead its operations in Australia and New Zealand, with plans to launch its first cars as early as next year.

Forget the hypercars and wild concepts like the Nebula Next 01, Next 01X SUV, or the Kosmera sedan. Dreame is doubling down on mainstream, mid-to-high-tier SUVs, with utility vehicles and a pickup possibly following.

The brand aims to avoid the cutthroat budget segment, focusing instead on volume segments like small, medium, and large SUVs, as well as potential pickups and utes. Initially, all models will be all-electric, but Dreame isn’t ruling out range-extender models or plug-in hybrids down the line to broaden its appeal.

The move signals a serious push into automotive, leveraging Dreame’s deep pockets and global ambitions to challenge established players in one of the world’s most competitive markets.
