JSW Motors is preparing for its major debut in India’s automotive market as a standalone automaker with a production facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, alongside its partnership with JSW MG Motor India and an MoU with Skoda Auto Volkswagen India. The brand’s inaugural model will be the JSW Combat, a rugged, large plug-in hybrid SUV. Ahead of its launch on December 4th, 2026, the SUV has been spotted testing under full camouflage, with spy shots credited to Twitter user SuryawanshiPrit.

Based on the Chery Jetour T2, the JSW Combat is expected to arrive in India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. It features a boxy silhouette, large 20-inch alloy wheels, and an imposing road presence. Dimension-wise, it is expected to mirror the Chery Jetour T2, measuring 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, and 1,880 mm in height, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase and a 220 mm ground clearance. It seats five adults and offers a 752L boot capacity.

The exterior styling boasts squarish headlights, a flat bonnet, a flat fascia, roof rails, a rear tailgate-mounted spare wheel, conventional door handles, side steps, large ORVMs, and chunky bumpers, giving it an old-school SUV appeal. Inside, the cabin layout resembles the Jetour T2, featuring a camouflaged steering wheel logo on the test mule. Expected equipment includes a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, powered seats with driver memory function, ventilated seats, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, a 540-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS.
Powering the Combat is expected to be the same PHEV powertrain found in the Jetour T2, consisting of a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine paired with an 18.4 kWh battery pack and two electric motors driving the front wheels. Total system output reaches up to 360 bhp and 610 Nm of torque, mated to a 3-speed gearbox. The SUV claims a pure electric range of around 90 km and a total system range of up to 1,100 km. While AWD with the PHEV powertrain is available in some markets, it is not yet confirmed for India. Further details will be revealed at the official launch on December 4th.
