Bentley has issued a recall for eight 2026 Continental GT and Continental GTC models after discovering that an incorrect front driveshaft was installed in three GTCs and five GTs. The issue stems from a supplier error at GKN Automotive Hungary, which sent Bentley a slightly too-short driveshaft during a manufacturing location transition. While Bentley’s recall report to the NHTSA suggests only a 1% chance of the defect appearing in these eight cars, the math works out to just 0.08 of a vehicle—an improbable figure that raises questions about the accuracy of the estimate.

The defect could lead to a loose hub securing nut, causing abnormal noise, vibration, steering wheel misalignment, and an increased crash risk. Bentley has not issued a formal “do not drive” order but advises owners to exercise caution. Dealers will be notified of the recall by May 24, with owner notifications expected by June 8.

The remedy involves a dealer inspection to check for the incorrect driveshaft, followed by a replacement if necessary. Since all affected vehicles are 2026 models still under warranty, no reimbursement program is required. The recalled Continental GT and GTC models come standard with a plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 671 horsepower and 685 lb-ft of torque.
