Polestar has reportedly ended production of the Polestar 2, an all-electric sedan/hatchback that helped establish the brand as a standalone entity. With over 200,000 units built in China since its launch in 2020, the Polestar 2 has been a significant model for the company. However, Polestar is shifting its focus to the rest of the world and has announced plans to release an updated Polestar 2 in 2027, followed by an all-new Polestar 7 SUV in early 2028.

The brand is also pulling out of the US market after being declined authorization under the Connected Vehicle Rule. Despite this, US fans may still be able to get their hands on the updated Polestar 2. The original Volvo Concept 40.2, which was supposed to be a new entry-level sedan for Volvo, was instead fast-tracked as the Polestar 2.

The brand has also been offering significant discounts on its models, including a $23,000 discount on the Polestar 3 and a $25,000 rebate on the Polestar 4. This means that buyers can get a brand new Polestar 3 or 4 with Chinese EV tech and Volvo safety features for a dramatically reduced price. The Polestar 2 has also been a great deal for buyers, with one example selling for under $22,000 with 19,000 miles.
