Land Rover is issuing a recall for 93,997 Range Rover SUVs spanning the 2022 through 2026 model years due to a faulty tailgate water management system that can let moisture fry the rearview camera.

The affected vehicles were built at the Solihull, U.K., assembly plant between July 8, 2021, and June 4, 2026, and the recall applies regardless of powertrain choice.

Documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicate that poor drainage causes water to pool around the rearview camera housing, eventually damaging the unit and resulting in a distorted image or a completely blank screen on the dash touchscreen when reversing.

To fix the issue, dealerships will drill extra drain holes into the underside of the tailgate trim and replace any failed cameras free of charge.

Dealerships will be notified on October 29, and owner notification letters will go out on or before December 11.
