Auto Express has launched a long-term evaluation of the BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport, a plug-in hybrid variant of the brand’s compact premium SUV. The test mule is being driven daily on UK roads and documented with a series of photographs captured by Auto Express senior photographer Pete Gibson. The gallery showcases the X3 30e in M Sport trim, highlighting its road presence and detailing the subtle styling cues that set it apart from the standard model. The long-term test began on 27 May 2026 and will track the X3 30e’s real-world performance, efficiency, and practicality over an extended period. The plug-in hybrid system combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering combined outputs and a claimed electric-only range that will be closely monitored during the trial. The X3 30e xDrive M Sport is positioned as a premium offering in the competitive compact SUV segment, competing directly with models such as the Honda CR-V, VW Tayron, MG HS, and Range Rover Sport in the plug-in hybrid space. The long-term test aims to provide an in-depth, real-world assessment of how the X3 30e stacks up against rivals in terms of driving dynamics, technology, and everyday usability.
