SPC ramps up European rubber compounding capacity with new Porto facility

Global rubber compound specialist SPC Europe has opened a new high-performance rubber mixing plant in Porto, Portugal, marking a major expansion of its European manufacturing footprint. The CAMAC Compounding facility is engineered to produce advanced tread compounds for high-performance tires, alongside specialized rubber formulations for conveyor belting and industrial applications. According to SPC Europe, the €X million investment significantly boosts the group’s mixing capacity and underscores its long-term commitment to the European rubber industry. The dedicated mixing line is designed with flexibility and sustainability at its core, focusing on natural rubber and SBR-based compounds while also supporting retreading applications. The facility will prioritize the use of sustainable and recycled raw materials, including recovered carbon black and recovered oils, to help customers reduce their environmental footprint without sacrificing performance. The new Porto operation complements SPC Europe’s existing network of European sites, which provide calendering and downstream processing capabilities. SPC Europe stated that the CAMAC Mixing facility will play a key role in supporting future growth while addressing the evolving technical and environmental demands of the rubber industry.
