Process oil specialist Ergon has validated its NuovoPrene recycled oil portfolio as a direct replacement for conventional mineral oils in rubber compounding, delivering performance parity across EPDM, SSBR and ESBR formulations. Using industry-standard vulcanization, viscoelastic, tensile and dynamic mechanical tests—plus OAN absorption analysis—Ergon showed the recycled oils match mineral oils in key metrics. The company also quantified a 7–50% reduction in carbon footprint versus mineral oils, depending on formulation and application. Compatibility with existing compounding equipment and alignment with circular-economy regulations make the recycled oils a scalable, high-performance solution for tire, technical rubber, TPE and specialty chemical sectors.
