A JetBlue Airways Corp. aircraft reportedly collided with an unauthorized drone while landing at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on June 29, 2026, at approximately 7:15 a.m. local time. The pilot informed air traffic control that the object struck the plane above the cockpit at around 3,000 feet during the approach. Despite the reported impact, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that a post-flight inspection found no damage to the aircraft. The incident follows a separate report from June 26, when the crew of a United Airlines Holdings Inc. flight spotted a drone while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, which also serves the New York metropolitan area. In both cases, pilots continued to their destinations without requesting assistance. The FAA confirmed it is monitoring such events as authorities investigate unauthorized drone activity near major U.S. venues, including sports sites hosting World Cup games. The agency is also probing operators allegedly flying drones too close to Coors Field in Denver during Major League Baseball games. The FAA did not specify whether the recent incidents near JFK and Newark are related to the broader pattern of drone sightings near high-profile events.
